Creativity

I’m beginning with this topic because our entire family is creative.  What is creativity? I like this definition:  Creativity is defined as “the tendency to generate or recognize ideas, alternatives, or possibilities that may be useful in solving problems, communicating with others, and entertaining ourselves and others.” These attributes fit all of us in our family.

With an abundance of creativity comes challenges. You think you can do everything and sometimes you take on too many projects for yourself. I have a “To Do” list of creative ideas that will take me another 50 years to complete. And yes, I want to do all of them plus the things on my Bucket List!

Right now I would like to see my Memory Joggers business become financially successful. I’d like to write more blogs, newsletters, write more educational articles, write more eBooks, and just generally help parents, teachers and kids.

I love to paint and this year I feel like my work is coming alive. I’m happy with it and I can sit and paint all day. (I’m doing more and more of that.) I try to stay current with my art blog and Facebook and post on Pinterest. Now I want to find an art site to sell my art on. More work! I also ask the question, “Why do I feel I have to sell my work in order to be a successful artist?” Relax, do it for fun and for my family. BTW, I want everyone to pick pieces you’d like to have. You don’t have to take them now but I’ll save them for you.

Now I am having so much fun sharing memories with all of you on this blog. Trying to decide which ones I want to share next. I hope you are enjoying this blog as much as I am!

I know each of you struggle trying to do it all. I always thought everyone had a million creative thoughts floating around in their heads, but they don’t! The gift of creativity is wonderful. Perhaps you inherited your creative genes from your ancestors.  My dad was an extremely creative person. He could take an empty department store window and transform it into an enticing and attractive display.  Or create a sign to advertise a business. He was one of the first persons to design a moving neon sign. He made a life-size hula girl from neon and her hips swayed back and forth.  Blaine was amazingly creative too. He took simple ideas and transformed them into useful and decorative products. See, this is part of your creative heritage.

What are your feelings about your creativity? I’d  love to hear your comments.

Well, this is enough for today. Here’s a quote to think about,

The person who says it cannot be done should not interrupt the person doing it.
– Chinese Proverb
